About the Senators Percussion
The Percussion line is an integral part of the Senators Drum and Bugle Corps. Made up of two main sections; the "marching drum line" and the front line "pit ensemble". Comprising the marching drum line are four different "voices"; High tension snare drums, tuned tenor drums (quads), individual tuned Bass drums, and marching cymbals. The front line "Pit" is comprised of four Professional Copper Bottom Timpani, a 4.3 Octave Marimba, a 4 Octave Xylophone, a Concert Vibraphone, Concert Bass Drum, gong and various auxiliary equipment including cymbals, and tom drums.
The primary activity that the Senators percussion and indeed entire Senators Drum and Bugle Corps are involved in is competing within the Drum Corps United Kingdom (DCUK) activity, in which the Senators are reigning Six times champions with two undefeated seasons both as a percussion line and a corps. The Senators Percussion line are also involved in other non-Drum corps activities, including an indoor percussion show (2005, the devil went down to Eastleigh) along with other "high profile" events including performances at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), the ICC Conference Centre in Birmingham and Selfridges in London.
